Random thoughts Stray memories

Yesterday, I was fretting over not reading enough. You looked amused and said something like: "You do know you can't finish reading all your books?"

Well, actually I didn't. Right until you've said that, I thought that somehow someday I'd engulf all those words in all those books and take them with me when I die. I even had weird fantasies of reading 2 books simultaneously, one out of the corner of each eye.

And now I realise of course you're right, and it's already too late even if I should stop buying any more books. My life already isn't room enough to encompass all my books.

Oh my friends, I am so sorry.

The last time I broke down due to stress at work, I resigned.

Today, I went in to the office at 8am and left after 10pm.
There doesn't seem to be an end to what needs to be done at work, and what's worse, I'm more or less standalone while everyone else is in a team. On top of that, there's the politics. At times it seems like I'm begging for help so I can do my job, and this is something I can't tolerate.

Today, I was holding an empty drink can in my hand while thinking about work, and I got so upset I just crushed it in one noisy crunch. It would actually be funny if you could've seen the startled looks of my neighbours.

But really, I desperately desperately need a break.

In the 30 minutes I spent waiting for a girlfriend to come meet me for dinner tonight, I bought 2 long chunky necklaces, a pair of dangling earrings, as well as a CD (Mika's "Life in Cartoon Motion"). The last was an impulse buy; they were playing this album when I was wandering round Gramophone and the music sounded cheesily catchy.

Anyway, when I got home and searched online for the album review, I found this Pitchfork review (which rated the album 1.5 out of 10). I don't think I've ever bought anything rated so low by Pitchfork before. Eek.

Lately, work has been busy. In order to understand the business requirements better, I actually borrowed a book called "Analyzing business data with Excel (Forecasting, Statistics and Data Management)". In baking terms, this is the equivalent of eating a cake and trying to decipher what went into it, so we could re-bake the same cake, albeit much faster.

As you can probably figure out by now, this sounds a lot like a recipe for disaster.

Sometimes I look at you and think, "Gosh, what a sunny child you must have been".

We went for our first marathon karaoke session after being together for more than a year.

I finally wore the weirdest skirt I own: a pink, polka-dotted, asymmetrical, pleated, lace-trimmed piece I bought from Hong Kong and have never worn since. It sounds much worse than it actually is.

You finally realised that the only way to pan fry gyoza is to totally defrost them first (so much for "from the freezer to the fire to the table"), and along the way, you unearthed a pack of gyoza in the freezer which was bought nearly a year ago.

Never say never.
