I just bought an earlier book by Matt Ridley upon a friend's recommendation. It's called "The Red Queen: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature". The Red Queen is from Lewis Carroll's book "Through the Looking Glass". She is a chess piece who needs to keep running to stay in the same place as the landscape keeps moving with her. In biological terms, this is a concept that all progress is relative. Can't wait to start reading. :)
